Field of Color by Kay Wyne

Field of Color
30" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This painting is currently hanging in my studio, wanting to be placed in a new home.  It is ready to hang, with the sides of the canvas painted.  Framing is optional.  "Field of Color" has huge amounts of paint built up, creating texture.  I used a palette knife to mix my oils and then apply the paint to the canvas.  Contact Kay for more info on this painting.  Thanks, KMW

The Gathering by Kay Wyne

The Gathering
18" x 24" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Floral Still Life
Contact Pam Massar at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas for purchasing information.  This was a demonstration from last week's reception at the gallery.  Here was my set-up with the floral arrangement.  For some reason the white drop cloth decided to fall when I took this pic.
I thought that since we were gathered for a day of art demos and art reception, that I would name this painting "The Gathering".  I am sure that Pam will frame it in a lovely gold or silver frame.  Feel free to contact ME with any comments or questions concerning this painting.  Have a great day....Kay

Flutter by Kay Wyne

Flutter
24" x 24" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Palette Knife Painting
Red dragonflies are all over the gardens at the Dallas Arboretum.  I worked off of a photograph taken by friend Mark Malone.  It was an amazing photo, and I went abstract with it.  I exaggerated the colors, and implied that the dragonfly was fluttering over some flowers.  The oils were applied with a palette knife so there is plenty of texture on the canvas.  Sides of the canvas are painted, so framing is optional.  Contact Kay for purchasing info.  Thanks, Kay

Blue Skies Above by Kay Wyne

Blue Skies Above
24" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Landscape Painting
Blue Skies Above is now one of my favorite paintings in the studio.  I reworked this painting several times, and I worked on the color changes.  The sky is very thick with layers of oil applied with the palette knife and wide brush.  The greens and grey lavenders are earthy.  The sky and horizon line fade in the distance.  Your eye can follow the road as it wanders through the painting.  This painting would look great in a frame, although it can be hung without.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking....Kay

"Creating Memories" Palette Knife Oil Painting of Venice, Italy by Niki Gulley

"Creating Memories," Venice ©2014 Niki Gulley
24" x 36" • textured oil painting

Inspired from our first trip to Italy, I fell in love with everything about Venice. The city feels preserved in time with all transportation happening on water versus roads. The architecture, art, history, and people are all fascinating, the food and wine delicious, and it was such a romantic place to visit. So in this painting, I captured a lone gondola to convey that feeling of lazily drifting along with your loved one down this brick canal filled with history and future memories.

If you're in the Dallas area this coming weekend and you'd like to see Creating Memories and more of my palette knife paintings in person, please stop by my studio as part of the White Rock Artists' Studio Tour.
