New "Spring's Glory," Texas Hill Country oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Spring’s Glory," Texas Hill Country ©2016 Niki Gulley
36” x 60” textured oil painting on gallery wrap canvas

“Spring’s Glory” was inspired by a trip to the Texas Hill Country. The spring conditions were perfect, and the bluebonnets were amazing! While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills and bluebonnets in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes to create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what’s to come.

"Blue Valley" New Bluebonnet oil painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Blue Valley" ©2016 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 24" x 12" textured oil painting

Just sold through my gallery, the Good Art Company in Fredericksburg, TX! I painted these Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this vertical wildflower series, I've framed the paintings in espresso floater frames so that you can still see the textured oil paint continuing around the edges of the canvas. These Texas wildflowers look great hung alone or in a grouping, too!

To see more of Niki Gulley's textured landscape paintings please check out NikiGulley.com,

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her Texas bluebonnet and wildflower paintings.

New Winter Palette Knife Aspen Tree Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Winter Hues" ©2016 Niki Gulley
12" x 12" oil on canvas

I painted these winter aspen trees with palette knife and extremely thick paint. I love how the chunky paint adds to the texture of the bark and the movement in the snow and branches. The painting continues around the edges of the wrap around canvas for a sculptural-like frameless piece of art.

These aspens and birches look great hung alone to brighten up a little spot, or in a grouping with some of my other 12x12 trees. Hang them horizontally, vertically, on a diagonal or stacked. If interested in seeing companion pieces, please e-mail Niki Gulley for options.

New "Soaring High" Palette Knife Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

Soaring High ©2016 Niki Gulley
30" x 48" • Textured mixed media on canvas

I wanted this painting to be filled with uplifting colors and energetic strokes all leading you skyward, to soar amongst the clouds. Aspen trees reach towards the heavens while gentle breezes cause the sky to dance while you lay on the ground gazing in wonderment. Happy hues, whimsical shapes and a feeling of movement, hopefully transport you to a carefree childhood moment where all of your worries drift away and dreams are created.

SOLD - Sunflower and Lavender Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Sunny Days," Provence ©2015 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 9" x 12" textured oil painting

I painted this colorful sunflower and lavender field oil during our Plein Air Painting and Photography Art Trek my husband and I led in Provence this past July. The vivid hues and aroma explosion were out of this world – a painter's and photographer's dream come true. The fields stretched for miles along the vast open landscape. Words can't even describe how special that moment was, and I hope you experience the joy I felt when you look at this uplifting palette knife painting.

New Palette Knife Sunflower Painting by Niki Gulley at the Good Art Company Gallery

"Memories of Sunshine II" ©2016 Niki Gulley
30" x 40" textured painting on wrap around canvas

"Memories of Sunshine" was inspired by our trip to Provence, France last summer. Our timing was perfect and the sunflowers were in full bloom. Their bright, smiling faces as big as dinner plates, the sun dappled path leading you deep into the golden field to the quaint stone farmhouse in the distance, and a beautiful summer day with a few peaceful clouds drifting by made for the ideal subject. The resulting painting is full of warmth, color and texture, and my hope is that when you gaze into it, this piece lifts your spirits and brightens up any spot in your home.
