This one is a different viewpoint than the others, can you tell? I was going to do a similar view point that I've done before but it just wasn't exiting me enough. After moving some things around on the desk I looked over at the stack of boxes and saw this viewpoint. Ahaa!! I then stacked it up to head level balancing on some cardboard boxes while I painted it. This is a Kumquat, they are popular over in Orient and from what I've learned should be eaten whole as the skin is sweet. I haven't tried this one but I will find out...Below is a photo of the setup, Stacked way up high.

Mandarin's the small orange. They are pretty good. I have had better. There's one similar in size called a Halo which is really good when there in season. Believe it or not, there's a Mandarin Tea out there. Below is a shot of the painting while I painted it. I'm using just some boxes to raise them up to about shoulder high. I've been standing up to paint these which in of itself is a challenge but it's paying off since I can step back move around a bit to refresh my view.

Lemon and Tea

I'm definitely a tea drinker who likes lemon in his tea. Especially Iced Tea. Born and raised on it. I don't use lemon that often only if it's during the summer or eating out and organic is the one to get. Meyer lemons are great. This one I cut and halved the slice paired with a green tea. Below is the setup I used this time raised about foot and half from the normal perspective and a black sketch book as the background.

Fresh ginger, sliced smells really good. Take a bite and your in for it. Spicy, no, hot, yes! You can definitely get teas out there with Ginger in them. I tried one that had lemon, not good. Maybe it was the brand. Really like the ginger though, smells great. Below is the setup I used as I painted. This time I propped up the still life so it wouldn't be a view more or less looking on top of it. I like it better like this and wish I did the peppermint the same. Although I don't think the peppermint would stay in one spot. The ginger was also a surprise to see the bright yellow in the middle. Really cool.

Peppermint and Tea

This one was a challenge to do. Looking more over the top than the previous paintings and the candy was a tough one. It took me a while just to get the candy to sit up without rolling but finally found the sweet spot. Below is a photo of the setup I used, simple but takes time to get it right.

Fig and Tea

Lucked up on the figs, hardly ever do you see them raw in the store. Since they are nice and short if fit well with the tea bag theme going on. I didn't expect that figs would be flavor for bagged tea but wouldn't you know it is. Figs are favorite of mine raw sliced up on toast, makes for a great substitute for jam and great for you too.

Guava Tea

Guava Tea

Yep I Googled it lol. Guava and Tea! I'm not sure if it would taste good or not, they do come in tea bag form. Each time I do one of these Tea Themed paintings I mull it over on what I might like to see composition wise. Sometimes it takes a while for me to find one I like. When I was figuring out this one I chopped up a couple of them and found out they were pretty bland inside as far as color. I've seen some that were red/pink inside will try to find one of those one day. I decided after all that I would just use it as a whole. It looked great but then I had a great idea of just zooming in on the Guava as you see here. I'll probably do another version one day of the whole Guava in it. They are quite small as you can see in the below photo of the setup as I painted it.

Hot Tea

Hot Tea anyone?? This one I thought would be fun playing on the theme of tea being hot and the chili pepper called a Habanero. Recently I heard there's a new pepper on the top of the least called the Carolina Reaper and it's red. This one was a challenge but I since I did the last one they are getting a little easier but still quite the challenge.

Cherry Tea

This one was fun, Mixing it up with the flavor theme. I like cherry's, and add that to tea and you got me. This one took a while to finish and was a challenge, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Painting from life has it's own challenges but they are very rewarding. Below is a photo of the painting on the easel as I painted the setup on my desk.

Jasmine Green Tea

I like tea, and one of my favorites is Jasmine Green Tea. Another is Irish Breakfast Tea, strong but good. Ever now and then I'll have an Earl Grey a little more spicy flavor. Going the other way, Oolong, has to be my least favorite depending on the brand. Some are good, then there's those, well, taste like it could have been kept in a shoe. Here's a photo below, of my setup as I painted. Sometimes I like just painting things as they are with a few tweaks.
