Bradford Pear trees are the earliest sign of Spring in Dallas. These are my favorite, and I try to paint them every year. I like the opaque blossoms against the transparent shadows. This is my favorite so far!

Autumn at the Lake by Ann McCann 11 X 14 Oil

This is a plein air painting that I did at White Rock Lake in Dallas.  I recently re-worked it with a knife (lots of paint!) and heightened the color.  We really do get some intense leaf color here in late November.  Love the bright oranges/reds of the trees against the blue of water and sky!

30 Day Challenge- Days 4 & 13. Winter's Bones by Ann McCann 5 X 7 Oils

Although my first theme for the 30 Day Painting Challenge was roses, my 2nd theme was tree skeletons that I entitled Winter's Bones.  Above is Day 4 and below is Day 13.  The photographs were taken on a warm December day at White Rock Lake in Dallas.  The sky was beautiful!

The other theme I chose for this painting challenge is Winter's Bones. This is a painting from a beautiful winter day last December when we took a walk around White Rock Lake. It was in the 70s, and many other Dallasites were taking the same walk.  Bare trees against a glorious sky...................................
