On the fourth day of our Provence Art Trek, we set up our easels in this gorgeous lavender field. The color and aroma explosion were out of this world – a painter's and photographer's dream come true. Words can't even describe how special that moment was!

I worked on this little painting yesterday in the studio...I have painted this mid-western piggy several times....this one was on a small canvas. He is walking through the grass, looking around. I remember the day that I took the pic of this guy on an Amish farm in Illinois, several years ago. The oils are thick and juicy, with brush strokes and texture. It will take a while for this to dry. Things never go as quickly or as smoothly as we would like them to.

It's been three weeks since we moved into the new house in Florida. Sorting through all 20,000 pounds of stuff has been quite a struggle, but we finally got everything unpacked and organized. We're actually living like normal people now!

My next project is to get the studio in order so that I can begin to paint again. It feels like ages since I last held a brush in my hand! There are some exciting opportunities ahead and I need to make the space to create some over-size paintings.

Visiting Aix-en-Provence with Niki Gulley and Scott Williams

Day 3, Provence Art Trek: Aix-en-Provence

Today we checked out of our hotel and headed to Provence's cultural hub and Cezanne's home, Aix-en-Provence. After visiting its famous Cours Mirabeau boulevard, lined with cafés and plane trees and its morning produce and flower market, we parted from the photographers and set up our easels at this picturesque fountain courtyard. Having several hours to paint, we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful day and each painter's unique view of the scene. Some focused on the fountain, others on the architecture and some on the nearby cafés. Everyone's painting turned out great!

Next, we headed deep into the lavender country to our picturesque b and b, where we spent the rest of the trip. And, of course we completed the day with another delicious meal!
