TEXAS LADY by Texas Artist Dyan Newton
Texas Lady
12 x 12 Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Available
This was fun and challenging painting this little lady in my palette of colors.
Ben Konis (wonderful artist from Amarillo, Texas) always said, "if the value is right, the color is right". I never painted another tree trunk brown.

Cinco de Mayo
30"x30"x1.5"
Acrylic on canvas
Cinco de Mayo measures
30"x30". This festively colored painting on canvas is stretched on
1.5" wood bars. The acrylic paint has been applied heavily to the
canvas and is enhanced with scratched out details that reveal underlying
layers of paint. The colorful liveliness and movement of the design
brings to mind the celebration of Mexican victory over French
occupation.
This large painting is wired and ready to
hang. The gallery-wrapped sides are painted in a gray/black micaceous
iron oxide that give the painting a finished look. It is signed on the
side, dated on the back and does not need to be framed. Acrylic varnish
has been applied to protect the beauty of the painting. A Certificate
of Authenticity is included.

Original Contemporary Modern Art Abstract Paintings by Filomena de Andrade Booth
It's a Matter of Time
36"x36"x1.5"
Acrylic on canvas
Sometimes what is beneath is as important
at what lies above. As I was working on this painting, certain areas
were a bit too saturated with paint. I decided to scrape some color off
and discovered that the underlying layers were more interesting. This
painting reminds me of metal that has been subjected to the ravages of
weather and rust, revealing a beauty that only comes with time.
It's a Matter of Time measures
36" x 36". This large, textural canvas is gallery-wrapped on 1.5" deep
bars. The sides have been painted in gray/black micaceous iron oxide.
Framing is not required. It is signed on the side, dated and signed on
the back. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Still-life with Pears
30"x30"x1.5"
Acrylic on canvas
Learning to listen to your inner voice is
an important part of being an artist, especially when painting
intuitively. This painting was part of a demonstration I did for one of
my workshops. It sat in my studio, staring at me, for a couple of
weeks. I sincerely meant to put it back up on the easel, but couldn't
shake the feeling that there was nothing more I could add to complete
it. So, after rotating the canvas several times, I finally saw it!
There is a vase of flowers sitting on a circular tablecloth and there
are a couple of pears to the left of the vase. Serendipity! The
painting practically painted itself and "told" me what it wanted to be!
Love when this happens!
Still-life with Pears
measures 30"x30". This large textured canvas is stretched on 1.5"
bars. The sides are painted in a gray/black micaceous iron oxide. The
painting is wired, ready to hang and framing is not needed. It is
signed on the side, dated and signed on the back. A Certificate of
Authenticity is included.

This
fun, 3-day workshop is for the intermediate and advanced artist who is
familiar with painting in acrylics and wants to loosen up by
experimenting with innovative techniques of applying and manipulating
paint on canvas.
We will begin each day with a demo and a
short discussion on how to establish a good composition. Once that is
done, we will dive right in and start having fun by applying paint
loosely with brushes, tools and even hands! We will learn how to paint
intuitively, allowing the painting to lead the way and establish its own
"voice".
Students are encouraged to work on large
canvases, allowing them the freedom to break loose and enjoy the
painting process with no stress and lots of fun!

Thoughts of the promise of springtime
were on my mind as I painted this large abstract painting. Although the
day outside my studio windows was cold, dreary and wet, I couldn't help
thinking of those warm, moist days that lay ahead and refresh the
earth. In this part of the country, bluebonnets will soon carpet the
nearby meadows and the freshly plowed fields will be clothed in green.
