Moving is not fun!!
It's
been a while since I have been able to do anything related to my
artwork. We sold our home in China Spring, Texas earlier this month and
now we are in sunny Florida. I had been thinking of making this move
for some time because my husband and I had no family in Texas and we
were missing our family, especially our little grandchildren. So here
we are!
It's
amazing how many things we manage to accumulate over the years. My
mother-in-law always said that "two moves are as good as a fire" and I
think she was right. I tried to scale down on those things we didn't
need anymore, but we still managed to cram 22,000 lbs. of stuff on to
the moving van. Some of that weight was a small pick up truck, but just
the same, it's still a lot of stuff!!
Anyway,
my new studio isn't quite as big as my Texas studio, but I decided to
turn one of the spare bedrooms into my office/packing area. Once I
unpack everything and decide where everything goes, I should be able to
get back into the swing of things again.
In
case you were wondering, the three kids (cats) made out alright on the
long 2 day car trip and hotel stays. We did have to borrow a broom from
the front desk to scoot them out from under the bed, but other than
that, we all survived. Now they are enjoying the new house and
especially the screened patio. Our house overlooks a lake and the news
around here is that there are a couple of gators that make it their
home. I'll make it my business to stay as far away as possible from
those critters!
The painting shown here, Fire and Ice, just sold to a collector from York, PA.
